Secret papers reveal workings of China’s Xinjiang detention camps

An international journalistic organisation has uncovered a trove of highly classified Chinese government documents on the mass detention of ethnic minorities, mostly Muslim Uighurs.
The Chinese government says these camps are for vocational training and education and has called media reports about these camps “fake news”.
But rights groups describe them as extrajudicial internment camps for the indoctrination of its inmates.
They say more than a million people have been locked up in these camps in the Xinjiang region.

Al Jazeera’s Fintan Monaghan reports.
